ISLAND MOOREA

Moorea

Moorea, the Magical Island

Moorea, also called the Magical Island is what you would imagine a South Seas island to be. Lush green velvet colored Mountain peaks, surrounded by a wide and shallow lagoon, waterfalls tumbling down fern covered cliffs. Peaceful meadows and pastel-painted houses with gardens of hibiscus and birds of paradise circle the island.

Moorea for Honeymooners and Couples in Love

Moorea is the perfect island for the active honeymoon couple, as well as the couple searching for quiet time together. Spend a day discovering the lagoon by outrigger canoe or glass bottom boat, parasailing, windsurfing, kayaking, jet skiing, join one of the ray and shark feeding or SCUBA diving excursions - or be pampered in one of excellent resort spa locations on the island. If the latter entices you, we highly recommend the Moorea Pearl Resort’s Manea Spa and their signature Polynesian spa treatments for honeymooners. For your complete pleasure and wellbeing, the Manea Spa offers a variety of traditional Polynesian treatments which utilize oils, wraps, and scrubs made from native Polynesian ingredients designed to sooth, relax, and rejuvenate.

Tahitian Wedding Ceremonies

A highlight for every couple in love, ceremonies are performed at each of the major resorts and at Moorea Tiki Village. Ceremonies are legally not binding and can be as simple as a sunset ceremony with a Tahitian priest or as elaborate as a pageant with musicians and dancers.

Moorea Honeymoon Hotels

Hotels come in all styles and sizes in Moorea, ranging from expansive five-star properties to charming Polynesian hotels and family owned pensions. Some of the most popular hotels in Moorea include the Sheraton Moorea Lagoon Resort, Moorea InterContinental Resort, Pearl Resort, and newly renovated Sofitel Moorea Beach Resort. Smaller family run, budget friendly properties are also available around the island including the Hotel Hibiscus, Fare Vai Moana, and  Les Tipaniers. Honeymooners visiting the island will enjoy excellent Garden Bungalow, Beach Bungalow, and Overwater Bungalow accommodations. Some bungalows even include their own private pool, as is offered by the Moorea Pearl Resort and their Garden Pool Bungalow accommodations.

Moorea Honeymoon Activities

Snorkeling in Moorea

Moorea is the perfect island to rent a car and explore the inner island on your own. The fertile valleys are home to plantations of cotton, coffee, sugar cane and pineapple. Join one of the many exploration tours conducted by jeep, on horseback, by ATV, helicopter or on foot with the many guided hiking tours available. The majestic mountains of Moorea are fully accessible and tours venture past plantations, across streams, into deep valleys and up waterfalls. Guided hiking trails follow winding rainforest trails up to the highest mountain peaks.

Due to the protection of the encircling reef and lack of strong currents, the abundance of marine life and the shallow waters, Moorea is ideal for year-round snorkeling. Divers will enjoy the drama of Moorea's landscape also below the sea where they can find an infinite range of canyons and they are often surrounded by schools of small and large marine life. Dive Centers are located within the resorts or alongside Cooks Bay.

Besides its natural beauty, Moorea is blessed with many excellent restaurants, each in unique settings alongside the lagoon. Both, the resort and local restaurants are serving excellent French, Italian, Chinese and Tahitian cuisine. Not to be missed should be the Tiki Village with its authentic Tahitian Feast and dinner show. Another unique dining experience is Te Honu Iti, which entertains diners with a nightly stingray feeding and serves excellent French and seafood entree. After dinner, one must not miss one of the many outdoor Polynesian shows which heat up the night with a ballet of dancing flames. These beachside performances of grace, bravery and mystery were first performed in Samoa and later perfected by the Tahitians. Each hotel offers its own variety of weekly Polynesian song, dance, and fire performances.
