ISLANDS TAHAA AND RAIATEA
Tahaa, the Vanilla Island & Raiatea, the Sacred Island
Among all of the islands, the lagoons around the islands of Raiatea and Tahaa are among the greatest in the world for sailing, because of the temperate climate, steady trade winds and an abundance of dramatic places to anchor. For the non-sailors, Tahaa, also known as the Vanilla Island, is today primarily known because of one of the most beautiful Resorts in French Polynesia, Le Tahaa Private Island & Spa and Raiatea is today primarily known as the island with the airport that serves Tahaa. But there is certainly much more to Raiatea. Under and around Mt. Temehani in Raiatea lives the famous Tahitian Tiare flower, which is so rare because it can be grown no place else on earth.
A Place for Honeymooners and Couples in Love
Le Tahaa Private Island & Spa is the perfect destination for a dream honeymoon or vacation. It's romantic ambience is unmatched and there is no other resort that offers more variety in romantic services, including many different romantic "touches" romantic welcomes, romantic interludes and romantic escapes. If you plan to visit other islands as well, this is the destination that should be visited last as the "grande finale" to a most wonderful and memorable trip. If you are visiting Bora Bora prior to Tahaa, be sure to take the helicopter transfer from Broa Bora to the private helipad at Le Tahaa, it is an unforgettable experience.
Tahaa Honeymoon Hotels
Hotels in Raiatea and Tahaa include the very small and private Hotel Vahine Island and of course Le Tahaa Private Island & Spa, a member of the Relais & Chateux Hotel Group. Located in a remarkable lagoon setting, this resort is in our opinion the best resort in French Polynesia. The resort is located on its own private island, surrounded by white sand beaches, and situated in the crystal clear lagoon just offshore of Tahaa. The property commands wonderful views of Tahaa and Bora Bora, and it offers a complete range of beach and overwater suites. In fact, the bungalows here are some of our absolute favorites in the islands- they are spacious, beautifully designed, and offer outstanding privacy. There is a full service spa available and a dive center.
Tahaa Honeymoon Activities
Activities on the islands of Raiatea and Tahaa include diving, jet skiing, snorkeling, bicycling, horseback riding, surfing, sailing windsurfing, sunset cruises and hiking, but one of the most popular excursions and one that should not be missed is the vanilla plantation excursions. Over 80% of Tahiti's harvest of this famous spice is grown here. Tours include strolling among these beautiful and fragrant orchids and demonstration of the pollination and curing process. The open-air ambience of the resort restaurants match the relaxed atmosphere of these two islands while offering excellent dishes of local and French cuisines.
